Research on Timing and Accuracy of Logistics Delivery in Resale Platforms and E-commerce Shopping Platforms

2025-03-09

The efficiency and accuracy of logistics delivery are crucial factors that influence customer satisfaction and business success in both resale platforms and traditional e-commerce shopping platforms. This study aims to explore and compare the delivery timing and accuracy between these two types of platforms, focusing on how they manage logistics processes, handle delays, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Introduction

In recent years, the rise of resale platforms, such as those used for cross-border purchasing, has introduced new dynamics to the e-commerce industry. These platforms often act as intermediaries between international sellers and local buyers, which adds complexity to the logistics process. On the other hand, traditional e-commerce platforms typically have more direct control over their supply chains. This research examines the differences in delivery performance between these two models, with a focus on timing and accuracy.

Methodology

The study was conducted by analyzing data from a sample of 500 orders placed on both resale platforms and traditional e-commerce platforms. Metrics such as delivery time, on-time rate, and accuracy of the delivered items (i.e., whether the correct products were delivered) were measured. Feedback from customers regarding their satisfaction with the delivery process was also collected.

Data Collection

Data was gathered over a period of three months, with orders placed across different regions and product categories. For resale platforms, the orders included products sourced from international markets, while e-commerce platform orders were limited to domestic purchases. Tracking systems were used to monitor delivery timelines, and customer feedback was obtained through surveys.

Findings

The results revealed significant differences in delivery performance between the two types of platforms. Traditional e-commerce platforms had an average delivery time of 3 days, with a 95% on-time delivery rate. In contrast, resale platforms averaged 7 days for delivery, with an 85% on-time rate. Accuracy rates were also slightly higher for e-commerce platforms (98%) compared to resale platforms (92%).

Discussion

Traditional e-commerce platforms benefit from established logistics networks and centralized inventory systems, which allow for faster and more accurate deliveries. Resale platforms, however, face challenges such as customs clearance, international shipping delays, and reliance on third-party logistics providers. These factors contribute to longer delivery times and slightly lower accuracy rates.

Conclusion

This study highlights the importance of optimizing logistics processes for resale platforms to compete with traditional e-commerce platforms in terms of delivery timing and accuracy. Investments in strategic partnerships, advanced tracking systems, and customer communication can help bridge the gap and improve overall customer satisfaction.
